"I am confused by the data available on the size of arc/stick welder I can run. Current power supply is 120v 20amp. Seems to be that the limit is a 100amp stick welder, as anything bigger requires 240v even with the inverter types. Will be a while before can get 240v wired to the location I'd be welding in. Are there any higher amp options to run off my power?" - Jeffrey Beyer]]>

Heat bluing on stainless steel. http://w2ww.cypressweld.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/heat-bluing-on-stainless-steel http://w2ww.cypressweld.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/heat-bluing-on-stainless-steel
Have a little heat bluing from welding.

Anyone got a good way to remove the discoloration?

Have to treat the stainless when all done welding anyway.

Going back to New York state so needs to be rain proofed as much as possible.]]>

I also tried soldering/welding with acetylene, It was ok , but it was not very clean.
a clearer and faster method is needed.
I also tried tig, Induction brazing, and mold repair welding.]]>

Which metal is best for outdoor sculpture? http://w2ww.cypressweld.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/which-metal-is-best-for-outdoor-sculpture http://w2ww.cypressweld.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/which-metal-is-best-for-outdoor-sculpture
He is asking for 316 stainless,, I am thinking aluminum for weight reasons as well as longevity.

He is in a snow and rain and damp leaves kind of place.

I want to use aluminum for the weight savings and well as cost to build..

Think that aluminum with a good powder coat will last longer than the 316 stainless.

Any thoughts??]]>

Slow leak? http://w2ww.cypressweld.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/slow-leak http://w2ww.cypressweld.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/slow-leak
I hadn't been able to weld in awhile due to family obligations and whatnot (and a certain amount laziness in all honesty).... I went out to fire up the welders and found that both my mig mix tank and my argon tank were empty.... The last welding I did was mig and I thought that maybe I had left the tank open on accident.

But the argon tank was new! I did leave the flow meter/regulators attached. Is it possible that they are leaking from there? Do I need to disconnect the regulators between uses (it can be weeks or more between uses)?

Thanks!

Since I weld in my garage, can I damage the computer in the car if it is also in the garage?

Has anybody experienced this problem? If so, can I shield the welder so this won't happen?

Thanks,
